killmedeadproductions@hotmail.comRUSTED DAWN formed in 2004, and is a hail of speed emerging from the East Coast of Canada, in particular their hometown of Sussex, New Brunswick. Jeremy sings and plays guitar, Justin is lead guitar, Chad is on bass and Tom plays drums. Tom, being the only member not of Sussex origin, hails from the capital city of Fredericton, the current hometown of the band. Influenced by pretty much everything under the sun, the four dudes strive to bring something original to the table while playing the music they live and breathe for - neck-splitting speed meets crushing, all-out power. The boys started out playing as many shows in the Maritimes as possible in 2005, sharing gigs alongside infamous touring acts such as Fuck The Facts, The End, and Cancer Bats, as well as notable east coast heavyweights such as Gallactus, Iron Giant, Hellacaust and many others, all within their home turf on the East Coast of Canada. Their first release, 'The Toxic Shock E.P.', was released in late 2006, which included a track which appeared on the Diminished Fifth Records Compilation 'The Music Of Artisanship And War, Vol. 1." After this, the band embarked on their first tour of eastern Canada in the summer of 2007, covering their eastern provinces, as well as marking their first visits to Quebec and Ontario. A second release, "The Red Collar E.P." was released in February of 2008, and was followed by an absolute onslaught of touring throughout the summer months across eastern Canada, and further touring in early 2009. But with the good, of course, comes the bad. The band has seen it's share of turmoil in forms of vehicular near-death experiences, lineup changes, and member injuries, resulting in delayed releases, cancelled tours... the list of nonsense goes on. Now, however, the band is stronger than it's ever been, preparing for what will be their much anticipated (and much delayed) debut full-length album, "The Black Tides Of War", coming in early 2010. You've been warned.
"It's very rare that a band can merge influence from a genre's heyday as well as its current influx of evolved talent. Rusted Dawn's latest EP maintains both sides of that fence, uniting crossover thrash with metal's current doom undertow. Inspired by the loose-yet-hyperactive guitar attack of Join The Army-era Suicidal Tendencies and sinister pacing/gloomy air of High On Fire, Red Collar may only be five songs long but the affair is still a full meal of raspy guitars and hammering drums. Moreover, thanks to a vocal performance that elicits comparisons to Toxic Holocaust's rabidness and slight inflections of Cryptic Slaughter and Entombed, each song is a well-rounded and vicious onslaught that rages with reckless abandon. Full of thick breakdowns, chant-a-long choruses and piercing verses, Red Collar is perfectly slotted in either 1986 or 2009. More than a re-imagining of extreme music, it's the real deal."
