Artist Ashley Johnson-South Africa-Johnson will be giving an artists talk at the opening reception Friday Sept.18. Johnson was one of the cofounders of Dasart in South Africa, an artistic co-operative with a radical alternative bent that mounted exhibitions that travelled internationally and subject of critical reviews around the world. Johnson is a writer and visual artist and currently a contributing writer for Canadian Art Magazine.

ROCK STAR PORTRAITS-DRAWING EXHIBITION-MEGHAN NIITTYNEN -GALA OPENING RECEPTION FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 18 @ 7PM-FEATURING ARTISTS TALKS/MUSIC PERFORMANCES/REFRESHMENTS Meghan Niittynen, one of the premiere drawers in Northwestern Ontario in her first solo exhibition in gallery 3. Niittynen depicts in her photo-realistic coloured pencil drawings, a record of events culminating towards a completed image/icon portraiture of individuals within the music subcultures of Metal and Rock. An important aspect is the subliminal element of visible tattoos in her portraiture, a mirror of our times capturing the zeitgeist of rock and culture today.
