Baycore Frequently Asked Questions

Does post count really make my penis bigger or vagina more cavernous?

Yes.

Does this site encourage immoderate and/or underage consumption of alcohol and/or illegal drugs?

No, this site does not promote such things. We promote music here. All you can do on the main page is add mp3's, bands and music-related news. The administration of baycore.net accepts no responsibility for the information posted on this website by individual users.

Emo's pretty kool, eh?

I've always found the town a little too small and out-of-the-way for my liking. I prefer Fort Frances.

How do I add bands, news, mp3's, etc to this site?

To add bands, news, mp3's, etc, go to the usermenu here: http://www.baycore.net/baycorians/usermenu.php
To add shows, go to the calendar entry on the forum here: Calendar entry

How do I add upcoming shows to the mainpage?

Currently, shows are automatically added to the mainpage when users create a calendar entry by registering/logging into the Baycore forum and then clicking on the forum. The direct link is here: post event on calendar.

How do I enable quick reply on the forum?

Profile button -> Look and Layout Preferences -> Use quick reply on topic display: "show, on by default."

How do I set up a profile on baycore?

Go to Baycore Baycorians and click around...

How does this site differ from tbshows?

Baycore primarily promotes punk, metal and other independent music styles. Tbshows' users lean towards "mainstream" music styles whereas Baycore users lean towards more "independent", "eccentric" and "heavier" music styles. We also have t-shirts available.

How often do shows happen?

Approximately once a week or so. I wrote a quick script which gives me a definite answer that shows listed on Baycore happen every 2.61855670103 days on average.

Is this show tonight?

Possible, but you'll probably want to check the upcoming gigs section to make sure.

Is this site Safe For Work?

The main page is. The forum is not.

What is this site's mandate?

Baycore should primarily:
1. promote independent music,
2. promote punk and metal music.
3. promote Canadian music.
4. promote music from Thunder Bay, Ontario.

What's all this about VIP forums?

You can't see them until you make a lot of posts. Sorry.

When was Baycore started?

The domain was first registered on November 26, 2003. However, there was a lengthy period of stagnation where no web development was done on the domain. It wasn't until August 26, 2006 that the baycore.net as you now know it was created. The first version did not have a main page, just a phpbb2 forum. On August 23, 2007, the forum was converted to the SMF forum that now exists here. From September to October, 2007, the php for the main site was developed and deployed. On January 16, 2008, the css for the main site was upgraded to the version that exists now (as of Jan 11 2009). on April 14, 2008, there was a database crash that left the forum needing to be restored from backup. The last backup at the time was March 18, 2008 so nearly a month of posts went missing. Since then, daily backups have been made. On January 9 - 12, 2009, the main site was upgraded again to be html validated and the security of the forms and login pages have been enhanced.

Who created the main logo? Who drew the Baycore flag drawing?

The main logo was created by Destructo using the Zombie Holocaust font. The drawing of the guy sticking a Baycore flag through another guy's skull was drawn by the amazing local artist, promoter & tattooist Micro (killmedead on the forums).

Who created this site? Who is current in charge?

Destructo created the site and designed the php, css and html for the main page. The forum is administered by Moneyteeth, Would?, Prof. Bananas and Destructo.

Why are there separate logins for the forum and the mainpage?

Originally there was only one login for both but we found that the login api for the smf forum software never worked correctly so I separated the logins for the two different sections of the site in order to keep the site running smoothly.

Will I become cooler by coming here?

No. Visting Baycore does not add or subtract coolness points. However, if you were cool to begin with, we definitely want you to post here. If you weren't cool to begin with, tbshows is a website you may want to check out.

WIll my mom approve of this site??

Why wouldn't she? And even if she doesn't, who cares?
